Dynamic calibration system for seismometers: Traceability from 0.03 Hz up to 30 Hz

نویسندگان

چکیده

Mechanical calibration and traceability of seismometers in operating conditions are still a technical challenge, since very low-frequency ranges (below 0.1 Hz) involved, sensors under investigation generally heavy bulky. Recently, within the vibration metrology field, some pioneering works proposed to evaluate seismometers’ sensitivity by applying laboratory mechanical procedures, against primary or secondary standards, according ISO 16063 methods. By following this path, at INRIM, it has been developed suitable system for short period horizontal vertical ground velocity 3-axis seismometers. The allows directly sensitivities 2 axes perpendicular gravity with respect (S-waves), derive axis, parallel (P-waves), frequency range between 0.03 Hz 30 Hz.

High rate ( up to 105 Hz / cm 2 ) , high position resolution ( 30 m m ) photosensitive RPCs

In many applications there is a need for high position resolution VUV and UV imagers. For these applications we have developed and successfully tested 1D and 2D VUV imaging detectors based on microgap RPCs. Two versions of these detectors were extensively tested: one filled with photosensitive vapours and the other one with the GaAs cathode coated by a 400 nm thick CsI layer. The main feature o...

40-W average power, 30-Hz moving-slab Nd:glass laser.

A moving-slab-geometry Nd:glass laser has been designed and demonstrated. An average power output of 43.8 W has been achieved at 2.76-kW input power and at 2.06% slope efficiency. The moving-slab laser has the potential for scaling to kilowatt average power levels.

A PRECISION CALIBRATION SET-UP FOR AC MAGNETIC FLUX DENSITY MEASUREMENT IN THE RANGE OF 1 Hz TO 20 kHz

A precision generating and measurement system of AC magnetic flux density was developed by using a linear low-frequency AC magnetic field converter, a quartz Helmholtz coil, a voltage comparator, a multimeter, a standard resistor, and a computer with a program for automatic measurement. The expanded uncertainty (k=2) of the calibration system is less than 0.2 % over the frequency range of 1 Hz ...

Splitting attention reduces temporal resolution from 7 Hz for tracking one object to <3 Hz when tracking three.

Overall performance when tracking moving targets is known to be poorer for larger numbers of targets, but the specific effect on tracking's temporal resolution has never been investigated. We document a broad range of display parameters for which visual tracking is limited by temporal frequency (the interval between when a target is at each location and a distracter moves in and replaces it) ra...

A Comparative Study of Mode Arrivals at Megameter Ranges for 28 Hz, 75 Hz, and 84 Hz Sources

At long range, the low order acoustic modes constitute some of the most energetic arrivals. Prior to using these signals in tomographic or matched field inversions, it is important to understand their fluctuation statistics. Long vertical line arrays installed as a part of the Acoustic Thermometry of Ocean Climate (ATOC) experiment provided a unique opportunity to measure low-order acoustic mod...
